Review of the Amazon Kindle App for the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch

In my review of the Kindle 2 I mentioned that rumors were swirling about Amazon possibly releasing a Kindle app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Well those rumors turned out to be true as I found this morning when I looked in the app store and found the Kindle for iPhone app!

Yep, now you can read your Kindle ebooks right on your iPhone or iPod Touch. No need to carry your Kindle around with you while you’re out and about. The Kindle for iPhone app is free and weighs in at a very petite 2.9MB.

Getting Started: Signing In and Archived Items
When you first start Amazon for Kindle you’ll see the familiar Amazon Kindle logo and you’ll be taken to a screen where you can sign in with your existing Amazon.com account. I had no problems signing in to my account.

After sign-in you’ll see Archived Items on the Home screen. Just click it to begin downloading books that you’ve already bought from the Amazon Kindle Store. The books will download right onto your iPhone and you can then begin reading them by simply clicking on the title of the book on the Home page in the Amazon Kindle for iPhone app.

The Home screen can be viewed by Recent, Title, or Author. You can also click the sync button at the bottom of the app to sync your iPhone’s books with your Amazon Kindle account or you can click the info button to get more information about the Amazon Kindle app.
